The challenge

Month-end reporting still leans on manual spreadsheet review

These are common challenges in accounting and bookkeeping work. They are general industry observations, not statements about any particular firm.

  • Repetitive spreadsheet reviewsThe same checks, client after client, month after month.
  • Manual reconciliationMatching entries by eye across long exports.
  • Duplicate transactionsThe same bill or posting entered more than once.
  • Inconsistent financial dataMismatched names, dates or formats between exports.
  • Time-consuming month-end reportingReview work that competes with advisory work.
  • Difficulty tracing errors to source recordsFinding the exact row behind a number.

Our first solution

Financial Reporting & Data Quality Automation

A reporting tool that reads a financial export and lists potential data-quality issues for a person to review, each tied to its original source row.

  • Reads CSV and Excel (.xlsx) financial exports
  • Handles supported QuickBooks- and Xero-style export layouts
  • Identifies potential duplicate transactions
  • Flags unbalanced accounting entries
  • Highlights out-of-period postings
  • Generates Excel and HTML reports
  • References the original source rows for review

Consistent routine checks

The same checks run the same way on every file, so reviewers are not re-scanning for the same issues by eye.

Traceable findings

Every finding points to the row in your own file, so a reviewer can check it directly instead of searching for it.

Focused human review

A targeted list of rows to check shows reviewers where to look. People still make every decision.

We have not measured time savings or accuracy on real customer files. The pilot is designed to find out, with you, on your own work.

How it works

Four simple steps, supervised by a person

Today this is a supervised service, not a self-service product. There is no file-upload feature on this website.

  1. Share an authorized export

A customer provides an approved CSV or Excel financial export through an agreed secure channel.

  2. Analyze the data

Our reporting tool examines the supported data for potential inconsistencies.

  3. Review findings

Potential issues are presented with explanations and source-row references.

  4. Receive actionable reports

The customer receives an Excel workbook and an HTML report for review.

Paid pilot program

A focused 60-day pilot with one firm

We are looking for an accounting, bookkeeping or fractional-CFO firm to test the service on its own recurring exports, with a clear scope and a written agreement.

The 15-minute walkthrough shows a sample report and checks whether your export fits. Pricing is discussed there. Pilot terms are proposed and are confirmed in a written agreement before any customer file is processed.

  • 60 daysOne firm, one export type.
  • Up to three files a monthOnly files the firm is authorized to share.
  • Reports within two business daysAn HTML report and an Excel workbook with source-row references.
  • One review call a monthTo walk through findings and what was useful.
  • SetupConfirming the tool reads your real export. The first real file may need a format adjustment, and one small adjustment is included.
  • Agreed ways to measure valueFor example reviewer time compared with today and findings you confirm are real. No outcome is promised in advance.

Trust and data handling

How customer data is handled in a supervised pilot

This is how we plan to work in a pilot. The final terms are set out in a written agreement before any customer file is accepted.

  • Agreement first. No customer file will be accepted until a written agreement is in place and the firm confirms it is authorized to share the data.
  • Only what is needed. We will ask for exports without Social Security numbers, bank account numbers or full tax IDs. Names can be masked by the firm if preferred.
  • Agreed secure channel. Files will be shared only by a method the firm approves, never through this website.
  • Processed on a controlled computer (planned). The reporting tool is rule-based and will be run locally by SBTE, in a dedicated folder that is not shared or synced. In the version we have tested, the tool makes no network calls and uses no third-party AI services.
  • Limited access. The principal will handle pilot files personally. They will not be shared with other parties.
  • Deleted on an agreed date. Input files, reports and temporary files will be deleted on the agreed date, with written confirmation.

These are operating practices, not certifications. SBTE Consulting & Associates does not hold a security certification, and the service has been validated with synthetic data only.

FAQ

Questions and known limits

Straight answers about what the tool does today, including what it does not do.

What does the walkthrough involve?

A 15-minute call where we show a sample report built from synthetic data and ask how your team reviews exports today. We then assess whether your export format fits. You do not need to send any files.

Has it been tested on real customer files?

No. It has been validated with synthetic accounting data only. Results on your files may differ, and the first real file may need a format adjustment.

Is it artificial intelligence?

No. The current reporting tool uses fixed, explainable rules to flag items. It does not detect every possible accounting error, and it does not replace accounting judgment.

What are the known limits?
  • .xls, .xlsb and macro-enabled files are not read.
  • Formulas are not evaluated (saved values are used).
  • Amounts in different currencies are not converted.
  • Dates are read as month/day/year unless the file shows otherwise, and English month names only.
  • One table per run.
  • Out-of-period checks need a review period to be set.
  • A row with only one filled cell is treated as a heading and left out.
  • Only the first date column drives period checks.
  • Tax is not interpreted.
  • A flagged double posting may be a legitimate repeat.
  • The first real file may need a format adjustment.
Can I upload a file on this website?

No. This website has no upload feature and no contact form. If a file is ever needed, we agree a secure channel and a written agreement first. Please do not send client or financial data by email or message.

Have you measured results on real files?

No measured time savings or accuracy figures exist yet, and none are claimed. The pilot is designed to find out, with you, on your own work, and no outcome is promised in advance.
