Financial reporting quality pilot · For accounting, bookkeeping and fractional-CFO firms

Catch potential reporting errors before they reach your clients.

A supervised 60-day pilot. We run a supported financial export through fixed, explainable checks and give your reviewer a clear Excel list of flagged items, each traced to its original row.

Early-stage, supervised pilot. Demonstrated with synthetic data; findings require professional review.

The problem

Month-end review still leans on eyes and spreadsheets

These are common challenges in accounting and bookkeeping work, general observations rather than statements about any particular firm.

  • Repetitive checksThe same review, client after client, month after month.
  • Entries that do not balanceDebits and credits that differ are easy to miss in a long export.
  • Possible double postingsThe same bill or posting entered more than once.
  • Postings in the wrong periodLines dated outside the period being reported.
  • Hard-to-trace numbersFinding the exact row behind a figure takes time.

The proposed solution

A focused pilot that gives your reviewer a working list

We run your supported CSV or Excel export through fixed rules and return an Excel workbook and an HTML report. Every flagged item names the row to look at in your own file. Your team decides what, if anything, to do about it.

  • Potential duplicate transactions and bills
  • Journal entries and trial balances that do not balance
  • Postings outside a review period you set
  • Source-row references for every finding
  • 60 daysOne firm, one export type.
  • Up to three files a monthOnly files the firm is authorized to share.
  • Reports within two business daysAn HTML report and an Excel workbook with source-row references.
  • One review call a monthTo walk through findings and what was useful.
  • Terms are proposedScope, fees and data handling are confirmed in a written agreement before any customer file is processed. Pricing is discussed on the call.

How it works

Four simple steps, supervised by a person

Today this is a supervised service, not a self-service product. There is no file upload on this website.

  1. Share an authorized export

Under a written agreement, through a channel you approve.

  2. Run the checks

Fixed rules examine the supported data for potential inconsistencies.

  3. Review the findings

Each item comes with an explanation and its source row.

  4. Decide and follow up

Your reviewer decides what matters; we walk through it on the monthly call.

Try the checks on made-up data

Every number below is synthetic: a small made-up general ledger. It is not from any customer. The flags are the real output of our tool on this file (“Demonstration using synthetic data; not validated on customer data.”). Choose a check to see which rows it flags and why.

Synthetic ledger, review period 1 Jan to 31 Mar 2025. No checks run yet.

Entry does not balance Needs review

Entry JE-1002 debits 1,250.00 but credits only 1,205.00, a difference of 45.00. Look at rows 4 and 5.

Possible double posting Needs review

Lines with the same date, account and amount appear under two entry numbers: JE-1003 and JE-1004 (49.00 Software, 15 Jan) and JE-1007 and JE-1008 (25.00 Parking, 10 Feb). Look at rows 6 to 9 and 14 to 17. The first pair looks like a double posting; the second is two parking charges that can be legitimate, so a person decides.

Outside the review period Needs review

With the period set to 1 Jan to 31 Mar 2025, the lines dated 28 Dec 2024 are flagged. Look at rows 20 and 21.

Flags are items for a person to check, not conclusions. Without JavaScript, all three findings are listed in plain text, and the full sample report is below.

Human review and limits

What this is, and what it is not

Early-stage

A person reviews every finding. The tool flags items for professional review; it does not make accounting decisions and does not replace your judgment.

Validated with synthetic accounting data only. It has not yet been tested on any real customer export, and results on your files may differ. The first real file may need a format adjustment.

It uses fixed rules, not artificial intelligence, and does not detect every possible accounting error. A flagged double posting may be a legitimate repeat. We do not promise any outcome, saving or result, and we have not measured time savings or accuracy on real files.

Supported today: CSV and Excel (.xlsx) exports. Not supported: .xls, .xlsb and macro-enabled files, currency conversion, formula evaluation and tax interpretation. See the full list of known limits.
